The pace of death has not slowed. Six people died in ICE detention in January 2026 alone, plus two fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis.

Renee Nicole Macklin Good¶
37-year-old U.S. citizen shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis during Operation Metro Surge. Her death sparked the protest movement that Wagner and Pretti were involved in.
Alex Jeffrey Pretti¶
37-year-old ICU nurse at the VA Hospital, U.S. citizen, shot 10 times in less than 5 seconds by CBP agents while filming immigration enforcement operations and directing traffic. He had no criminal record. He had a legal Minnesota carry permit. He was killed for standing between federal agents and a woman they had pushed to the ground.

Key Findings¶
Geraldo Lunas Campos — Ruled HOMICIDE
A medical examiner ruled Geraldo Lunas Campos's death at Camp East Montana, Texas as homicide by asphyxia. This is the same facility where Francisco Gaspar-Andres died of medical neglect in December 2025. Camp East Montana has now had at least 3 deaths in 3 months.
Two 'Suicides' on the Same Day
Both Heber Sanchez Dominguez (Georgia) and Victor Manuel Diaz (Texas) died on January 14, 2026. Both are classified as suicide/apparent suicide. Two suicides in the same federal detention system on the same day demands scrutiny.
Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz — 20+ Years in the U.S.
68 years old. Had lived in the United States for over 20 years. Arrested in New Jersey in November 2025, transferred across the country to California, died January 6. He was not a recent arrival. He was an elder ripped from his community.
